Pellet Fires Tasmania was established in 2001 by Rob Douglas to introduce new Pellet Heating technology to Tasmania.  There was an opportunity for a specialist consultative business to provide total and comprehensive solutions based on customer heating needs.  Our showroom and head office in Moonah was opened in 2004.  The product range was expanded to include all types of technologies, (heat pumps, electric, wood, gas, pellet, solar etc.).  PFTAS Pty Ltd was incorporated in 2006 and continues to trade as Pellet Fires Tasmania.  Warehouse facilities were added in 2012 located next door to the showroom opposite Moonah Primary school. Ulverstone was opened in 2012 and Launceston in 2014.

Robert Douglas is the founding Director of PFTAS Pty Ltd, a bioenergy heating appliance specialist business. PFTAS is a private company established in 2001 and trades in the retail market as Pellet Fires Tasmania.

Robert has extensive Management experience in Sales, Customer Service and Manufacturing, he has worked in a range of different industries including – defence, computing and communications.

Robert has held the following Senior Management positions:

  • Managing Director (PFTAS Pty)
  • National Sales and Operations Manager (Let’s Talk Communications)
  • National Operations Manager (East Coast Television)
  • Information Technology Manager (Calvary Hospital)
  • Banking Business Systems Manager (Sequoia Systems)

 

While Robert has formal qualifications in mechanical engineering and electronics, most of his knowledge base was developed by experience with leading edge technologies and projects. Many of Robert successful projects were the first of a kind and include; Microwave TV, National Call Centres, Hospital IT systems and fault tolerant computing for financial institutions.

If you engage Pellet Fires Tasmania (PFTAS) to install your heating or ventilation products for you, we may use a combination of our own staff or PFTAS trained professional installation contractors.  This ensures that your installation goes ahead with as little stress and hassle as possible. Our own Customer Service staff provide quality control, warranty and service work for all products sold.  Spare parts are provided, as is a wide range of accessory products to complement your installation.  (PFTAS does not install wood heaters but can provide a list of local independent installation contractors on request).
